Now you have a new Amazon Echo ($ 100 on Amazon)You use it all the time to play your favorite music and find out about the weather – but Amazon's Alexa Assistant has a variety of skills that you should use.

For example, you probably knew you could ask Alexa to turn on the lights when you're at home, but did you know that you can remotely turn off the lights in the Alexa app?

Connect your Echo to your smart home devices

Listen to music, audio books and podcasts

Once you've linked your Amazon account to your Echo, you can start listening to music right away. However, if you don't have Prime or Amazon Music Unlimited, you may see some songs and artists that are not available. So it's a good idea to link your other music services to your account.

Connect Amazon Music, Pandora, iHeartRadio, TuneIn: In the Alexa app menu, tap the settings > music and select the music service.

Connect to Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, SiriusXM, Tidal, Gimme or Vivo: When you connect to one of these devices, tap Link new service, select the service and enter your login details.

Connect to Google Play Music or iTunes: If you have either of these two music streaming services, you can only use your Echo as a speaker. You have to manually select the songs you want to hear on your phone. Go to the settings of your phone and activate Bluetooth. Then say "Alexa, couple." Select your echo when it appears on your Bluetooth screen.
