The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP )’s MLA Raghav Chadha was booked here on Sunday for allegedly posting a tweet defaming Uttar Pradesh’s Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, the police said.

However, Chadha claimed that the FIR had been registered at the behest of a number of well-known political activists and that this was based on absolutely frivolous and erroneous reasons and orders to refuse.

He also said that it is surprising that in such a situation (coronavirus outbreak), the UP police used their energy to register an “unfounded” FIR.

The FIR was registered on the basis of a complaint from UP lawyer Prashant Patel Umrao at the sector 20 police station in Noida, a police officer said.

The case has been dealt with in accordance with sections 500 (defamation), 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (statements that create or promote enmity, hatred or malice between classes) and section 66 (offensive messages via a computer or other communication device such as) submitted a mobile phone) of the Information Technology Act according to the FIR.

“His (Chadhas) malicious and willful act is not only dangerous for the maintenance of law and order, but will also cause panic among people who are going to their hometowns because of the coronavirus epidemic,” Patel said in his complaint citing a tweet allegedly posted by Chadha.

The case occurs amidst thousands of day laborers with a migrant background from Delhi and the surrounding area, who gather in large numbers in Anand Vihar at the UP border and, due to the 21-day national ban requested by the center, with the aim of curbing the spread, to their hometowns and villages leave from the corona virus.

Chadha, also AAP national spokesman, said that in this vulnerable time when humanity and the country face an unprecedented public health and economic crisis in the COVID-19 pandemic, people can meet this challenge through a concerted effort .

“It is surprising that in such a situation, the UP police used their powers to register an unfounded FIR against me in NOIDA at the behest of some well-known political activists,” he said in a statement to PTI.

“However, I limit myself to saying only that, after reading the present FIR, it is based on absolutely frivolous and erroneous reasons and justifies the refusal with the contempt it deserves,” he added.

“However, there are times in our lives when we need to focus on doing the best for our country, our families and communities, putting our differences aside, and getting small political brownie points. This is one of those times when we’re there. ” So it’s not about naming by taking advantage of a health crisis, “said Chadha.

Delhis Rajinder Nagar’s MLA added that people should endeavor to abolish all types of partisan politics and focus all their energy on simply curbing the spread of this dangerous disease.

“This is the time to put India first and humanity first,” he said.

“It would suffice to say that I have full confidence in our judicial system and I say with great certainty that the truth has an uncanny talent to seep out at some point. Therefore, ‘Truth will prevail’. Satyamev Jayate!” he added.

At the last PTI review, the tweet mentioned in the FIR was not displayed in the AAP MLA timeline, although a screenshot of the alleged post was posted on social media.
