Madrid: Atletico Madrid confirmed on Monday that Alvaro Morata has suffered a muscle injury. The striker has to deal with Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League in the last sixteen.

Atletico will be playing live pool in the Wanda Metropolitano on February 18 and Morata will definitely want to be fit as there are no options in advance. Diego Costa and Joao Felix are both currently injured.

"Alvaro Morata suffered a muscle injury on the right leg," said a club statement. "His return will depend on his recovery."

Morata were eliminated in the second half of Atletico's 1-0 loss to Real Madrid in the city derby in the league on Saturday.
