He sang many successful pieces such as Raabta and Phir Le Aaya Dil, but made his breakthrough with Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2, replacing Mohit Chauhan as one of the most sought-after singers of his time in Bollywood. In 2019, Arijit himself gave almost twenty blockbuster songs. He also finished 26th in the list of Forbes India's 100 most influential celebrities.

In an earlier interview with The Statesman, Arijit had also spoken about his struggles in his early days in Mumbai. "I have fought a lot, yes, but there is nothing that is particularly unique about my fight. Every singer who comes to Mumbai has to go through the same journey. You go to the music directors with your demo and hope that someone or the other to recognize your talent. You meet other people who want it and you hear their life stories. These life stories are sometimes a lot to consider compared to your own and I think that always kept me going. "Arijit was on remembered his trip to Bollywood.
