While most social media influencers try to use their follower base to act as an actor in web series, television, music videos or films, Sameeksha Sud has done the opposite. "I myself didn't think it was a job to be a social media influencer," says the former television actress, who started making musical videos between shots on the set. That was three years ago. Today she has 18.6 million followers on Tik Tok, brand contracts with Pepsi, Lays, Redbus and several others.

Although Tik Tok is often shunned as a platform because of its content, there is no denying the mass appeal it enjoys with over 120 million active users in India. With Bytedance's own app, users can create 15-second videos. It has surpassed Whatsapp, Instagram and Facebook, making it the most downloaded app for iOS and Android.

Sameeksha, who publishes about seven or eight videos daily with two other group members, Bhavin Bhanushali and Vishal Pandey, says that this mass call is based on loose rules and a more informal space compared to the "more posh" and "more selective" ones & # 39; Instagram. The trio also has a YouTube channel with 6.95,000 subscribers.

When it comes to transferring Tik Tok's fame to other platforms, posting content on a unified schedule is key, according to Samiksha. Apart from that, it also works to look for trends and adapt them to your target group.

But how do you stay relevant in a time when trends are so volatile and social media is almost full of content creators? “Find out what kind of content you want to create and publish it consistently. On Tik Tok, I spend almost four hours watching videos to understand what trends work and how to use them in my own videos. For example, if I had to make a video today, it would be Valentine's Day and Pulwama Attack or some festival because we have so many of them in India. "

If you are a college student looking for more social media traction, or just an active user who wants to switch to this area of "social media influencer", now you know what to do.
