Beijing: The death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in the Chinese province of Hubei has risen to 361, according to the health authorities. 56 people succumb to the deadly virus.
According to the Hubei Health Department, the authorities have confirmed another 2,103 coronavirus cases in the province, representing a total of over 16,600 cases, CNN reported. Up to 9,618 people have been hospitalized, including 478 people who are in critical condition.
There are now nine cases of coronavirus in the United States. There are four confirmed cases in California, two in Illinois, and one each in Massachusetts, Washington, and Arizona.
In addition, Russia stopped passenger trains with China on February 3 because of concerns about the corona virus, the Russian state-owned rail company said on Sunday, Sputnik reported. On January 31, Russian Railways restricted passenger traffic to China and only released direct trains between Moscow and Beijing. Now these trains are also canceled.
The novel corona virus was first discovered in Wuhan in China at the end of December and has since spread to more than 20 countries.
The World Health Organization (WHO) announced an international health emergency on Thursday to urge all nations to take precautionary measures.
