Transformation of the day: Darneta lost 81 pounds adopting healthier eating habits and exercising six days a week. She is a single mother of two children with special needs under five. Now, he has a lot of energy to play with his children and take care of them.
What was your motivation?
I am a single mother of two children with special needs under 5 years. They require a lot of care and attention, which took away my energy quickly, especially weighing 250 pounds. My children already have many things that they will have to learn to control when they are adults. I didn't want bad eating habits to be one of them, so I decided to start making changes while they were young!
How did you change your eating habits? What is your exercise routine?
With that in mind, I knew I needed to start changing my diet. I started with portion control. I still ate what I wanted, much less.
I also started walking 30-60 minutes a day, with my children in tow! While they were playing in the playground instead of just watching, I played with them or stood aside and made a round of jumps, running on the spot, lunges, etc.
Soon, I got enough confidence to join the gym! They had a nursery for the children so that I could spend a little time concentrating on myself. I joined a Zumba class 3 times a week, one hour per day. Now, I can proudly say that I go to the gym six days a week, 2 hours a day. I do an hour of cardio (Zumba still!) And an hour of weightlifting.
What was your initial weight? what is your current weight?
My initial weight was 250 pounds and my current weight is 169 pounds. I have 5 & # 39; 2 ″.
When did you start your trip?
I started my trip in April 2019. I can't say that my trip is over. I still have a few more pounds that I want to lose, and I will definitely continue lifting weights to tone up.
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight?
My advice to other people who are trying to lose weight is: don't give up! The weight that another person loses in 3 months can take six months, but you can still achieve the same results as long as you have dedication, determination and consistency!
If I had given up six months ago, I would have no idea how strong I am mentally and physically. My children seem much happier now. They are excited to go out and play because they know that I am right behind them. I'm playing tag and duck goose duck, and not just watching them play together. They know that mom will run out of energy in all of us!
