Deepika Padukone made an unprecedented decision when she decided to produce Chhapaak, playing the role of an acid attack survivor. However, she received a lot of negativity online when she visited JNU to show solidarity with the university students and teachers who were attacked on January 5 by masked idiots. This led to the # BoycottChhapaak trend on Twitter. The film's IMDB rating also fell, and Twitter suspected it was a premeditated attack.

In a new video that has surfaced online, Deepika Padukone is responding to the drop in Chhapaak's IMDB rating. The actress spoke to the director Meghna Gulzar on a radio program. She gracefully answers the question of changing the film's IMDB rating. She said: "Unhone meri rating badli hai, mera mann nahi (sic)."

An online campaign against Deepikas Chhapaak was launched when Deepika visited JNU before the release of her film. #BoycottChhapaak started on Twitter with the request of many users to boycott the film. She said Deepika Padukone is an anti-nationalist because she supports people who want India to go under. As a result, Chhapaak's IMDB rating dropped to just 4.6, while Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior was 8.7. Of the 18,737 voters so far, almost 10,500 have the lowest rating of 1 and almost 5,800 the 10.

This led to a Twitter war in which many supported Chhapaak and said it was the result of a deliberate attack on the film. Many tweets have suggested that this is an extension of the # BoycottChhapaak trend.

Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak hits on January 10th. The film is based on the life of the acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, who was attacked with acid at the age of 15. In addition to Deepika, Chhapaak also plays Vikrant Massey in a key role.
