The friends Reunification is taking place and we cannot remain silent. Fans around the world, across generations, have woken up to the news, and there are plenty of posts on social media speculating about what the special episode airing on HBO Max is about.
The reunion will be without a script and will include the show's creators David Crane and Martha Kauffman, as well as all actors Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer. So the actors are unlikely to be "in character" as Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Ross, and we could see them take a trip back in time with the showrunners and discuss where the characters ended Indication of unresolved issues and so on.
Still, just the idea of seeing the six together after almost 16 years (the series finale The last part 2 broadcast on May 6, 2004) is enough to send goosebumps to fans who are still watching the show friends Switching soon from Netflix to HBO Max (WarnerMedia's streaming service) – reunion is the mother of all promotions for the new streaming site – this is the perfect timing.
It is even better that the special episode is recorded on the original sound stage on the Warner Bros. property. So there is reason to believe that they can clump together over coffee in Central Perk or Monica's apartment!
Everyone's wish list is certainly linked to their favorite episode, but here are some of the things we definitely want to see. Could we be more excited?
1) Lisa Kudrow sings "Smelly Cat" for us
"Smelly Cat" … again
Let's face it, this should, must and will likely happen. Although the theme song I will be there for you from The Rembrandts is the more popular track, Phoebe Buffay's iconic original composition is one that evokes the most beautiful memories. Lisa Kudrow even performed on stage with Taylor Swift Smelly cat a few years ago … and if she can do it for her then we certainly deserve more. Give the woman a guitar already!
2) Aniston and Schwimmer regulate the debate “We were on a break!” Once and for all
& # 39; We took a break! & # 39;
Well, they probably won't, but wouldn't it be epic if they talked about it at all? Although Ross and Rachel found their happy lives towards the end (at least we think they are still with daughter Emma Geller-Greene and a few other siblings), their previous split in season three brought about one thanks to Chloe from the Xerox Store most famous lines – and arguments – that have ever emerged from the show. Real couples have used it endlessly in battles for decades, and fans are still debating who was right: a deal would be nice at last … no?
3) Find out who Joey ends with
Joey doesn't share … his life with someone?
This is a big one. Although fans were upset when Joey was the only friend who stayed single at the end of the show, it meant that Matt LeBlanc's character opened up a world of possibilities in the subsequent (and only) spin-off friends so far, Joey, The show traced favorite Tribbiani's journey after moving to Hollywood, where he was looking for more acting opportunities, and was canceled in two seasons after an uncomfortable run. Towards the end of season two, however, it is shown that Joey has a committed relationship with his neighbor Alex Garrett (played by Andrea Anders), but did the couple last?
4) The one where everyone tests each other
Considered one of the best episodes in the series’s history, The one with the embryos (the twelfth in season four) broke the ratings records at the time. The episode follows two storylines. One in which Phoebe agrees to be the surrogate mother for her brother Frank Jr. and his wife Alice Knight. The other is a fun quiz that Ross hosts between Chandler and Joey's teams against Monica and Rachel to find out how well they know each other: for bets that are increasing in nature and eventually lead to girls getting theirs coveted apartment to lose to the boys.
Courteney Cox and Matt LeBlanc later revealed that this was their favorite episode of the series, and since the end of the show friends Quizzes have also become an instant hit in television shows, interviews, and parties where fans recreate the format. Several celebrities who are friends Superfans (like singer Charlie Puth, who was recently interviewed by Courteney Cox about trivia from the show) kept the Internet cheering. So it's only fair that the original six were asked about themselves about the show, or even better – considering that they're all off-screen too.
Rachel finally knows what Chandler's job is?
5) What are the "other" F.R.I.E.N.D.S so far?
Chandler's ex-girlfriend Janice, played by Maggie Wheeler and James Michael Tyler as Gunther, appeared on every season of the show
There were several supporting characters that graced the show (we don't include Paul Rudd's Mike Hannigan because he's much more than just a supporting actor), but undoubtedly the most important were Gunther (James Michael Tyler) and Janice (Maggie Wheeler). Gunther's immortal crush on Rachel made for some of the most memorable moments in all ten seasons, while Janices “Oh. My. God! “It is irreplaceable. We'd like to believe that they have moved from their respective obsessions to bigger and better things, and how about a closure for some of the other prominent guest stars like Bruce Willis, Reese Witherspoon or Hugh Laurie? Updates to The Chick, The Duck and Marcel the Monkey would also be welcome.
We saved the best for last: Imagine that you are now single Brad Pitt (he was a guest as Will Colbert) The one with the rumor) should crash the reunion with a surprise cameo and sit next to Aniston … yes, the internet has collapsed.
6) Did the children of F.R.I.E.N.D.S also become friends?
Would Emma Geller-Green get along with Erica and Jack Bing?
So we have Ben (Ross and Carol), Emma (Ross and Rachel), Jack and Erica Bing (Erica / Monica and Chandler) and the triplets (Phoebe / Frank and Alice). But hey, there could be more.
Would it be safe to assume that all children (now teenagers and young adults) would have met at some point … and understood themselves like their parents? David Crane and Martha Kauffman are almost a fan of a new spin-off with all the children of F.R.I.E.N.D.S who are navigating life in today's New York with all their millennial sufferings and dating apps Modern love TV series that should have happened.
7) More stories behind the scenes
Who doesn't like a good, old-fashioned trip into nostalgia and some stories on the set when the gang was in their twenties? It is now known that the six actors have made almost conscious efforts to become friends in real life (which has continued to this day) to bring more chemistry to the big screen. But even then everyone was horrified by the idea that Joey and Rachel would team up last season, as far as Matt LeBlanc recalled in an interview: “It was wrong and felt absolutely inappropriate. It's like I want to be with my sister. I said, "This is Rachel. She should be with Ross!"
Given their recent relapse stories and photos on social media, there seem to be a lot of vintage pictures, videos, and funny / sentimental anecdotes in sight. Have these handkerchiefs ready.
8) Hope for future reunions
The entire catalog of friends and the unwritten special will be available to stream on HBO Max when the service starts in May, and the reunion special is really just a glorified advertisement for the series that moves their home from Netflix to the WarnerMedia site , Still, it will still be an iconic television moment: this was the sitcom's impact on defining the zeitgeist of binge watching as we know it today and the ethos of several similar shows (How I met your mother, big bang theory, new girl.. to name just a few) that followed.
After a decade and a half, HBO Max has managed a big coup to bring all six stars together. But could we hope for further insights into their off-screen friendship in the near future? Only time will tell, but then they told us that they would be there for us.
