Guardians vs. Viper's XFL prediction, line: Take the outsider

After getting acquainted with the XFL on Saturday, two more games are on the program on Sunday, including the debut of your New York Guardians.

The Guardians were the most difficult team for the quota makers to start the season. The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook had her second choice (along with the Tampa Bay Vipers) to win the title 5/1, while William Hill opened it 12/1 as the longest price on the board. Since then, they have been adjusted to 7/1 from Friday afternoon

The Vipers are now the second most important choice in future XFL books behind the Dallas Renegades. Tampa Bay opened as a 3½ points favorite over New York. This makes sense if you think the Vipers are the second strongest team in the eight-team league and you agree with the books that place the Guardians in 8th place.

However, if you agree with the Westgate that you have equal rights, the Guardians are our VSiN Top Play for Sunday and are the only outsiders of the weekend at home.

I love some domestic dogs in all sports, so I don't need too much persuasion, but there are many reasons to believe that the Guardians can win the start. For one thing, I think Tampa Bay is overrated. Many people point to Viper's coach Marc Trestman and his reputation as an offensive genius in the Canadian Football League and in several NFL jobs. But I'll still take on the resume of New York coach Kevin Gilbride, who was the Giants' offensive coordinator in his two Super Bowl victories over the Patriots.

We're still learning these squads, but I also prefer New York QB Matt McGloin, whom I felt underestimated in his 2013 rookie season with the Raiders and who hasn't had a chance in recent years over Tampa's Aaron Murray. Gilbride could also have a combination of thunder and lightning when he runs back with Tim Cook in the role of "Brandon Jacobs" and Darius Victor or Justin Stockton. Mekale McKay is expected to be the # 1 recipient and compared to 6-foot-5 with Plaxico Burress.

This line has dropped to 2¹ / ₂ or 3, but I still take the Guardians plus the points (Note: Without PAT kicks in the XFL, the absence of the proverbial "key number 3" is not so important – also I choose it because I expect complete shock.

The game: New York Guardians, +4.
