Insight into all facets of the marriage between Knicks and Leon Rose

When Steve Mills was hired as Knicks president and successor to Glen Grunwald in 2013 after a campaign with 54 victories, one of the arguments of the Mills Garden was a solid relationship with the powerful Creative Artists Agency.

So much did Knicks owner James Dolan take care of CAA. In an ironic twist, Mills was finally released and replaced by one of her agent juggernaut, Leon Rose, who again defeated Carmelo Anthony, among others.

"MSG and CAA have been in bed for years," an NBA manager told The Post. "That shouldn't come as a surprise."

Rose, the former agent of LeBron James, received during the Melo / J.R. Smith era. Cherry Hill, N.J., was the only agent allowed in the locker room after the games and waiting for his boys.

Rose has connections that can help the Knicks – the obvious one is his role as agent for Karl-Anthony Towns, which the club has considered as a potential trade candidate if it gets even more upset with the Timber Wolf defeats. Rose is also the star of Suns, Devin Booker.

Rose has already worked with John Calipari on the candidate candidates, who is closely associated with the consultant and maker William Wesley.

Rose also had professional relationships with former Bulls and Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau, a former Knicks assistant. Rose is said to have good relationships with Jeff Van Gundy, and that could open the door for the former Knicks coach, who didn't even get an interview in 2018 when the club hired David Fizdale.

"Something had to be done and it definitely has a sexual appeal," said a rival. "And I wonder if that means Calipari is coming with him."

Rose does not represent any of the current Knicks, but he is the former agent of Frank Ntilikina. The 2017 lottery election that CAA fired with French representative Bouna Ndiaye last year.

"He is a good guy, he helped me a lot with the design process," said Ntilikina about Rose. "He knows basketball and knows what he's doing."

"No, not at all," said Ntilikina. "It's part of the business. We still have a good relationship."

It's an unorthodox move, but it's trending. Former agents Bob Myers (Warriors) and Rob Pelinka (Lakers) made the move well.

Rose has come a long way since the 2000-01 season when his only customer was Knicks 12th man Rick Brunson.

Rose has always been known for her media friendliness and joins an organization that has been criticized for being less transparent.

Mills and incumbent President Scott Perry have not spoken to the media since November 10 when they kidnapped the post-Fizdale press conference to alert the coach.

An NBA source said Mills failure was his lack of leadership. Rose oversaw the CAA basketball department and held a leadership role in this sense.

In a statement, Dolan said the search was ongoing as he was "determined to find the right leader for the Knicks."

Dolan thinks this guy is Rose. If there were tough feelings during the Anthony trade negotiations with Houston and Oklahoma City in 2017, there are none.
