Is Johnny Football making another comeback?
Johnny Manziel's Twitter account tweeted to XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck on Friday to win the former Heisman Trophy winner in the revived football league.
"If you want to take your reviews to another level, just send me the contract tomorrow and we'll be there," says a tweet from Manziel's account. "As I said YEARS AGO … XFL2020 gives people what they want."
However, the social media account was deleted hours later. It is unclear whether the 27-year-old NFL quarterback mistake was responsible for the tweet or whether his account was hacked.
The tweet comes just two weeks after Manziel wrote his wishes to play football again – somewhere other than in the XFL, which he and the now-defunct Alliance of American Football call "another league you'll hit mid-season" compared.
Manziel, who has been in the Browns in the Canadian Football League and AAF station for just two miserable seasons, would likely be a welcome addition to the XFL.
In the revised league of eight Vince McMahon teams, reviews were reported to drop 34 percent in week 2, which, despite all the hype surrounding the start of the season, could be the start of a terrible trend.
A player as famous as Manziel, who has his share of off-the-field luggage, could help the XFL avoid a fate similar to that of its predecessor, which was canceled after a season for financial reasons.
Manziel shared his struggles with alcohol in 2018, saying he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
