The unexpected farewell to Braves' side reporter Kelsey Wingert of Fox Sports South sparked outrage on Twitter on Wednesday after The Athletic reported earlier in the spring training.
The decision about Wingert's professional future is said to have been made at the end of last year when members of the Braves organization were informed of the decision at that time. Wingert, a staple of the Braves show, was said to be informed later.
The Braves did not allude to a change of program last month. According to the report, the team is responsible for the booth, which is occupied by Chip Caray and Jeff Francoeur, but Fox's regional networks are finally calling the sub-reporters.
While some fans signed a petition to support Wingert's reinstatement, others denounced the decision on social media.
“If the reports are true, I can't believe that @Braves will part with Kelsey Wingert. If that's true, this is the worst broadcasting decision for this team that I can remember. Really inexplicable, ”said KC Covington, editor of Braves Wire twittered,
"What do the @Braves think?!?! Letting @KelsWingertgo is a HUGE loss … it's the best! That's incredible. #HorribleMove, ”Jason Davies wrote,
"Why the hell should the Braves let Kelsey Wingert go? It's really disappointing, ”says Jeanna Thomas from SB Nation written,
The Wingert contract is scheduled to run until March. Wingert has not removed "@braves Reporter" from her Instagram page until Thursday.
