Knicks Center Mitchell Robinson will now be his fifth agent – and at least he has found the most famous.
Robinson has recently fired his last employee Mayar Zokaei and will target LeBron James / Anthony Davis agent Rich Paul, which, according to several sources, gives him his first customers with the Knicks. The move only becomes official after a grace period of 15 days.
Paul was considered a potential presidential candidate by owner James Dolan before working with Leon Rose. However, it is unclear whether he was interviewed.
Robinson originally had David Lee (not the former Knicks striker) as his agent, then Raymond Brothers joined the 2018 draft.
But Robinson let Brothers go when he dropped to 36th in the second round. Sources near Robinson said he should have gone to the pre-design camp – which Brothers thought was a bad idea.
John Spencer was hired in 2018 and then released. Zokaei, whose Twitter account was dedicated to Robinson's exploits, came on board after his rookie season last spring.
Robinson signed a four-year contract with team options for the third and fourth years.
Robinson is expected to earn $ 1.66 million next season, but it's not fully guaranteed. The Knicks cannot repeat the deal because they would have to do without Robinson and he would be claimed. However, there could be pressure from Paul to shape the new Knicks hierarchy so that Robinson becomes a free agent after its third season. The Knicks have a team option in year four, and then they could have him sign a new deal that is more appropriate to his value.
