Transformation of the day: Krystle lost 58 pounds. She was determined to break the cycle of chronic diseases in her family and get off the roller coaster of weight loss. Seeing the success of an old friend with a local fitness program encouraged her to try the program herself.

I have struggled with overweight almost all my life. I always wanted to have a healthy weight, but I lacked the motivation and discipline to change. In 2012, I reached my greatest weight of over 300 pounds, and, frankly, I was fed up. I cried when I saw that number on the scale. "How did I allow myself to get so bad?"

High blood pressure and diabetes run in my family. At the tender age of 22, I knew that I was going that way. I was determined to break that cycle, and I knew I had to make a change. I started using all the fad diets in books. I saw some success, but as you will see with most "diets", the weight came back strongly.

At the end of 2016, I saw photos of an old family friend who had recently lost a significant amount of weight, and she looked fantastic. I asked him what he did to have such an incredible transformation and they informed me about Sweat out of Fitness in Oak Park, IL. That's where I met my coach, Dee caswell, an absolute force to consider.

I joined her Sweat out of Fitness plan. She helped me realize that food is meant to nourish and nourish our bodies. Food is not just something we grab when we are bored or depressed. She helped me change my relationship with food. I was no longer jumping from diet to diet. She simply helped me reduce and make better decisions. I was no longer depriving myself. Instead, I used food to create the body I wanted.

I started taking three exercise classes every week, which was extremely difficult. Finally, I started going to classes five times a week because I saw how my body was literally transforming. Adding additional classes helped catapult my weight loss. We use stationary bikes in each class, but the secret is that she provides us with a full body workout on that stationary bike.

I lost a total of 58 pounds in about six months in the program. Before starting with Dee, he weighed more than 200 pounds and gained weight. I'm 5 feet 7 inches tall, so that was too much weight for my body. My current weight is 165 pounds. It's amazing because I have developed muscle (which I never had), I am not depriving myself of food and I am the happiest I have ever had.

The biggest lesson I learned is never giving up and finding the right person to help you on your trip. Dee (I call her coach Dee) always encourages her soldiers (that's what she calls her students). Some classes are challenging because we really work, but if she sees him trying and trying, he will NOT give up. She cares for all her soldiers and wants us all to win.

I also want to encourage people who are fighting in the war of physical exercise to be willing to sacrifice. Sometimes we have to give up an hour a day or leave a glass of wine during that finite time to achieve our goals. That's fine because in the end, everything will be worth it.
