To say that Meghan Markle had a good year is to fall short.

Within 12 months, the Duchess of Sussex has delighted in the brilliance of being a newlywed, received new sponsorships and responsibilities as part of her role in the royal family, became a new mother for Archie and faced battles and Media challenges.

We take a look at Meghan's year through the lens of her outfits, which influenced millions of people around the world and shaped the style trends we see today (and that we will probably see in the next year). Some months for Meghan, and Prince Harry, of course, were busier than others, and the days required multiple changes of dress.

January was an exciting month for the duchess. After getting married in May 2018 and announcing the news of her pregnancy in October 2018, royalty launched her new job with even more enthusiasm in January. Queen Elizabeth II gave sponsorships to Meghan, and we saw her go out to visit each of them that month.

In February, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent time in Morocco, where Meghan wore a variety of stunning outfits, including a beautiful blue Carolina Herrera dress and a silky and custom-made Dior dress. Her Oscar de la Renta dress, covered with colorful creatures of the forest, also made headlines at a stop in Bristol earlier that month.

In March, the Duchess paid tribute to the victims of the tragic shootings in New Zealand and spoke on International Women's Day. April was a relatively mom, since Meghan was busy preparing to be a new mom.

Meghan gave birth to Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor in May. The new mom and dad kept the birth itself and the subsequent announcement decidedly secret, doing things differently to Kate Middleton, Prince William and countless royalty before them.

When Meghan finally appeared with little Archie to present the new royalty to the world, the duchess wore a white dress inspired by trenches of Wales Bonner.

The Duchess of Sussex left for her first public appearance after Archie's birth in Trooping the Color in June, while she was still on maternity leave. Later that month, she made a surprise Appearance in the game Boston Red Sox vs. Yankees in London, where she and Harry received two very important clothes: small shirts for Archie!

In July, the former "Suits" actress celebrated Archie's christening with the rest of the royal family, just before leaving with her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, for her now annual trip to Wimbledon.

Only one day later, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex mixed with royalty, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, at the European premiere of "The Lion King."

Before the end of the month, British Vogue revealed that the Duchess of Sussex was behind the iconic September issue of the magazine, becoming the first guest editor of the publication in its 103 years of existence. Meghan selected and presented 15 women pioneers for the theme "Forces of Change", which did not appear on the cover.

In August, the duchess remained hidden from the public eye while finishing the rest of her maternity leave and spending time with Harry and baby Archie.

The following month, Meghan jumped across the pond to sit with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and watch her beloved friend Serena Williams play at the US Open. A few days later, the Duchess resumed her royal duties once again and made her first official public appearance for the launch of the capsule clothing collection that helped design for one of her patronage, Smart Works.

The rest of the month was busy for royalty, as Meghan and Harry made a 10-day trip to South Africa. While there, Meghan wore South African labels and wore a lot of clothes that debuted for the first time after announcing that she was pregnant during her royal tour of Australia and New Zealand with Harry (which caused more than a few rumors that she might be waiting again ).

In October, the royal tour of South Africa continued, in the middle of a battle with the press. While they were there, the two also filmed a special that would air that same month, in which Harry addressed rumors of disagreement with his brother, Prince William, and Meghan talked about the need for time to heal.

Shortly after the documentary was aired, Buckingham Palace confirmed reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would take a break during the holidays and not spend Christmas with the royal family. While we'll miss seeing Meghan and Harry walk to church on Christmas Day, ease their sorrows by scrolling through Meghan's most memorable sets below:
