People have started using their smartphones in their everyday routines and depending completely on them. These are great for a number of things, but group presentations aren’t what they are made for. it is not much fun with the other a number of people around a tiny screen. But what if you had a projector in a phone? In addition to being a general-purpose Android Nougat smartphone, it includes features like a 50-lumen Laser-MEMS projector which can project an image up to 200 diagonal inches. Your phone can run up to four hours with the projector turned on. The company who produced the phone is Wireless Mobi Solution, which was launched in 2008. It’s a very small company, and this is probably its first consumer product.
The progress of phone projectors
The Moviphone isn’t the only one phone with a built-in projector. Samsung also came up with this idea and tried twice, with the Galaxy Beam in 2012 and the Galaxy Beam 2 in 2014. Neither one was a huge hit. This new phone, on the other hand, offers more brightness and more pixels. Its image is 1280 x 720 pixels, compared with 800 x 400 for the Beam 2. Its laser projector’s 50 lumens are twice what Samsung used to offer.
The contrast ratio is also impressive i.e. 80,000:1. When Samsung introduced it, it had to bulge its phones a bit to include a projector. The Moviphone is uniformly 10.28 mm thick and weighs less than 200 grams (7 ounces). It has a storage of 32 or 64 gigabytes.
In normal use without the projector, the battery works exceptionally well and gives almost 22 hours of talk time or 285 hours of idle time. It also has some other features that include front and back cameras, a micro SD slot that can bring storage up to 128 GB, a Micro USB connector, GPS, E-Compass, gyroscope, and fingerprint sensing. The screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels. This phone has a lot of amazing things about it. If you want a projector that is as handy as this, then you should definitely buy this phone.
People have a lot of doubts about this phone. Their concerns are not entirely wrong. Skeptics say it makes more sense to buy the best phone repair for the money and use an external projector. There are pocket projectors as well that can be used for better results. Then why this phone? As reasonable as it sounds, no projector can be as readily available as a smartphone is. It does not weigh as much as a projector and you won’t have to bring anything else along. Now the important question is to ponder whether the Moviphone’s improvements will create a sufficient niche to hang on in the market. This is a difficult and dangerous battle against better-known brands. Even Samsung wasn’t able to convince people to buy a phone with a projector.
Will a small start-up company be able to do it? No matter how small a company is, one must never underestimate an idea. The computing industry is full of giants that were originally tiny operations with a big idea. It all starts with zero, so one must never underestimate an idea.
Nobody said that a Moviphone is a replacement for a full-fledged digital projector. It is just an alternative that is offered by the company to cater to your needs. This could be enough to justify it. There was a time when cameras were a quirky extra in phones; now they’re a must for smartphones. Including cameras in smartphones displaced a large part of the amateur digital camera market. This might not be the case with the projectors, but they may get there before long.
A Moviphone is considered good for a small room, but it wouldn’t be up to projecting for a larger hall. Who knows there might be a revolution and we will start using smartphones instead of projectors? The sound is an issue, but speakers can be hooked up to the headphone jack. It’s a simple and convenient way to show pictures or videos to a small group of people or your family. After all this is what a smartphone with a projector designed for. Let’s wait and see if the technology is advanced enough to catch on this time and this company or any other company will be able to grab enough interest from the big companies to build a viable niche.
