ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – New technology makes the OMNIMAX theater in the St. Louis Science Center more accessible to people with hearing loss.
On Saturday, the Science Center welcomed a group of almost 40 cinema-goers with cochlear implants or other hearing aids.
When the OMNIMAX theater was renovated in 2019, a “looping system” was added, which enables people with cochlear implants to hear films more clearly.
"Enjoying an experience for someone with a hearing aid or cochlear implant like me is a completely different situation," said Jennifer Stanfield. "We will all sit and hold on to the seats because the sound will be so powerful and it will read: & # 39; Oh my goodness, I have never experienced anything like this before. & # 39;"
The group saw the new Star Wars film.
The OMNIMAX theater was reopened in late November after a four-month renovation.
