A three-day gala will be held in Chennai and Kamal Haasan's hometown Paramakudi from November 7-9 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the seasoned actor and filmmaker in Indian cinema. As part of the ceremony, Kamal will unveil the statue of his mentor, writer, and director Shri. K. Balachandar.
Superstar Rajinikanth is likely to attend the event.
The details of the gala were released by Raaj Kamal Films International, the production and distribution company founded and managed by Kamal Haasan.
The actor and filmmaker entered the film industry when he was only three years old. He played as a child artist in the 1960 Tamil film Kalathur Kannamma, for which he won the President's gold medal. Since then he has appeared in over 200 films in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam.
He is known to fans around the world for his numerous outstanding roles, including Nayakan, Mahanadi, Pushpak and Sadma.
Kamal Haasan will also celebrate Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birthday by showing his 2000 film Hey Ram. The film is directed by Kamal Haasan and Rani Mukerji and also plays Shah Rukh Khan in a special role. Interaction with the audience after screening is also planned.
The event ends with a great musical homage to the music maestro Ilaiyaraaja.
Last year Kamal Haasan founded the Makkal Needhi Maiam political party on February 21. He has been busy with his political career lately and is expected to launch a campaign for the upcoming 2021 state election soon.
