First, what is SEO and how does it work?

SEO means search engine optimization. By definition, it is the process of optimizing your website and web pages to get "free" and "organic" traffic from search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing.

As a business owner, blogger or website owner, your job is twofold:

First, you should make it easier for search engines to understand what your page is about and create content that matches what we call, the "search engine intent."

Second, you must show Google and other search engines that your pages are "worthy" to rank.

In this video, Sam Oh teaches 101 in the world of search engine optimization.

There are many clear examples and some basic (but powerful) SEO tips to optimize a completely new website to be ranked number 1 in Google (step by step).

The techniques taught in this SEO training include:

1. Keyword research
When doing a keyword research, you can see the average number of times someone searches for a specific keyword phrase on Google each month.

Many times, the query you think will be the most popular is often far from the truth.

Using tools like Ahrefs Keyword Explorer (you will learn to use the "main theme" of a term to determine the best keywords for your pages.

You will also learn what not to do (i.e. keyword stuffing).

Keyword research gives you clues about the language you should use so that both Google and potential customers know what our page is about.

Here are some vivid examples to illustrate best practices on how to do keyword research. If you want to sharpen your keyword research skills, I recommend watching this series on keyword research in 2018 and beyond.

2. SEO on the page
SEO on the page is the process of optimizing web pages with the intention of occupying a prominent place in Google. If you want to occupy the position n. ° 1 on Google, then your SEO on the page must be correct.

In this tutorial, you will learn 4 simple but very effective tips to make sure you follow Google SEO best practices. Having optimized web pages will lay the foundation for your success in search engine optimization.

It will help Google understand what your content is about and help your customers find it.

Some of the basic tips include:

– Title tags
– Meta descriptions
– Header tags (or H1 tags)
– use of keywords
– content creation
– competition analysis

3. Off-page SEO
Off-page SEO is often called link building.

Link building is the process of making other websites link to your web pages.

Basically, the links act as "votes" or other people who respond through your website.

The backlinks work in a similar way to what you would recommend to your friend to buy a product from his favorite store because he tried it, used it and loved it.

In general, the more quality links you can get from the relevant pages, the higher your ranking in Google.

Sam will show you how to find backlink opportunities and the key technique used by SEO to create links, which is through the reach of email.
