Steve Stoute appears as an all-star after a catastrophic Knicks interview

CHICAGO – Knicks branding consultant Steve Stoute was not grounded by owner James Dolan after essentially firing interim coach Mike Miller and his staff on a television appearance last week.

Stoute spoke on a panel at Friday's annual All-Star Weekend Tech Summit, where Dolan speaks every year, sources say.

Dolan and Stoute, the entertainment mogul, were on separate boards. Stoute, who has served as Knicks spokesman for the past three weeks, was in the branding panel. Dolan was a speaker in the panel for monetizing social media.

When Dolan was introduced by actor Bill Murray, the comic sarcastically said, "Oh, they're rebuilding."

Stoute, who is responsible for changing the image of the Knicks, got into hot water last week when he said he expected a new coaching staff to come in and develop his talented young players.

The Knicks declined to comment in a statement saying, "All decisions regarding the team's operations will be made by the new president of the New York Knicks."

The Knicks have no appointed president yet, as Leon Rose and his clients ask the Creative Artist Agency open questions, and may not be a Knicks for at least a week.

Stoute was now the club's voice. He has given three Knicks interviews since January 23. Prior to his release, former president Steve Mills had not spoken publicly since November 10 in a bizarre post-game press conference that put former coach David Fizdale on alert.

Acting President Scott Perry also spoke most recently, despite trading in the team's top player, Marcus Morris, 10 days ago at the close. According to a source, Perry is "in the dark" about his future.

If there is a threat to the Knicks when All Star Center Anthony Davis returns to the free agent market in 2021, it's the cops. The Lakers Center is back in its hometown of Chicago for the All-Star Weekend. Davis is expected to sign the Lake Show again this summer unless things break down in an unforeseen manner.

However, the post has reported that league insiders believe he could sign a short-term contract – friendly 35-year-old LeBron James, who has been popularized. This is a two-year package with an opt-out after one season. That would put him on the market in 2021 if the Knicks had room.

Davis put the Knicks on his short trade wish list last season. His agent, Rich Paul, is also Mitchell Robinson's new representative. Robinson and Davis worked together in New Orleans.

"It was great," said Davis when he was back in Chicago. “I am happy to be back home and to spend time with my family and friends. It's going to be a great weekend. To come back here and play in front of the fans in a place where I grew up, a place where I had my first big game, the McDonald’s game at UC. So it was very exciting to be back and get the chance to relive some of the high school memories I had here in Chicago. "

Regarding the Lakers, David said: “It feels good to be in a profit situation. I think since we're number one in the West, we have something good to do there in LA. I am thrilled with our team. I love our chemistry. "
