Here is good news for parents looking for options to keep their wards creative at this stage of social distancing. City writer Nandini Nayar has launched a three-week online writing course for children over 10 years old.

The story-writing course introduces you to elements that contribute to writing a story and leads you to the aspects to consider. “It is easy for children who are stuck at home to get bored and distracted. There are tensions with Corona messages at home too. This is the time when you can focus your energy on getting creative, ”says Nandini, who also uploads Instagram storytelling videos for toddlers.

Nandini communicates through Gmail hangouts and also assigns tasks at the end of the session. It makes it clear that these are fun tasks. “I want you to have fun even when you write. Writing has helped me in many serious and stressful situations. I want to pass this on to the children so that they can enjoy themselves and continue writing so that it brings comfort. Even if you never want to publish anything, writing a diary can help to communicate emotions in a nice way. ”

Every child over 10 years can register for the course. The only requirement is that parents give an honest assessment of their community. “Children who enjoy reading and writing will benefit from this course as children who do not like reading and consider writing assignments an uncomfortable task,” she says, adding that some parents also asked if they were participating can. “There is no limit, but I am referring to young adults and will speak to them at their level. Parents may also find most of them working from home, and some mothers who are housewives have children and household chores to do. “
