Money gets the world moving and there is a lot of money around the world. But who has it?

Global wealth is expected to grow 27% over the next five years to $ 459 trillion by 2024. This emerges from the Credit Suisse Research Institute's Global Wealth Report, which examines cross-border household wealth and wealth inequalities in these countries.

There are almost 47 million people in the world who are millionaires (in US dollars). According to the report, the US accounts for 40% of the world's millionaires and 40% of the millionaires in the top 1% of the world's wealth distribution. China's progress has put it in second place, replacing Japan as the second largest number of millionaires in the world, the report said. Other emerging markets, particularly India, are quickly adding new millionaires.

That 1%, those Ultra-high net worth individuals are worth more than $ 50 million. The United States is at the top with 80,000, followed by China with 18,130, Germany (6,800), the United Kingdom (4,640) and India (4,460).

Credit Suisse estimates that the number of global millionaires could exceed 62 million by 2024, up almost 16 million from today and 49 million since the beginning of the century. While the number of millionaires in lower-income countries is still well below the level in the United States or Europe, they are expected to grow rapidly over the next five years.
