Tiffany lost 38 pounds with weight training, cardio and healthy eating habits. A selfie gave him the wake-up call he needed. He realized that he was hiding, and that it was time to get his life back.
What was your initial weight? what is your current weight
I weighed 220 in the image on the left, and now I weigh 182 pounds.
The photo on the left (above) was taken on July 24, 2018 and weighed 220 pounds. The photo on the right was taken on March 1, 2020.
What was your motivation?
My motivation came when my aunt died. My photo from before was taken the day we cleaned your house. I called the mirror that used to take the photo “the mirror of truth”. He showed me what he was always hiding, which was myself. I had never taken a photo like this because it showed my truth. I had a high ankle sprain at the time, so I couldn’t do much. That was the day I decided to get my life back.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
Every time I wanted to give up, I would look at my previous photo and ask myself, “Do I look happy?” December came, I gained nine more pounds from the summer, and this image made me shudder. I didn’t want anyone to post it on social media … AND THAT is what kept me going! I decided enough was enough.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started reducing order or getting fast food. This change also saved me money. I added more green foods to my diet; however, I did not call it a diet because it is a lifestyle change.
I ate more fruits, more vegetables, and less processed foods. I started with small steps. Finally, I started cutting back on soda, pork, and red meat.
Tell us about your exercise routine.
My exercise routine was simple. I walked on the treadmill for 40 minutes, then went to the weight room and worked my core, arms, and legs for 20 minutes. I focused my weight training on a different area of my body every time I trained. I went to the gym three days a week.
As my routine became constant, my time in the gym increased from one hour to 2 hours at times.
How long did your transformation take?
My trip took approximately 21 months.
How tall are you?
I am 5’5 ″.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned?
The biggest lesson I learned was that health is wealth. I no longer have to take pills for high blood pressure or pills for high cholesterol. That was a life lesson and a blessing at the same time.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
I would tell people who want to lose weight that no one can do it for you. You have to want it for yourself. You may not know where to start. If you feel that way, that’s already a start.
Everything takes time. You may not see the results right away, but they will come if you stick with them, never give up. Always. It’s time for us to not only look better, but FEEL better!
