"One goal of the program was to improve the quality of life for our residents by getting more involved and reducing isolation when possible," he said Judy Collett-Miller, Parker Director of Technology Innovation. "It was very successful that the majority of those who used the technology reported that it made a difference in their lives."
With Amazon Echo and ParkerLife capability, Stonegate residents can access information about our programs and services, including menus and activities. With Alexa, you can access music, news, audiobooks, and more. There were also some unintended uses as a resident with language difficulties reported using Alexa as a speech therapist because they "express more clearly and speak more clearly".
"At Parker, we're always thinking of new ways to involve and support our residents. We think technology plays a very important role here," he says Beth Sparling, Parker's Chief Operations Officer.
The initial pilot trial included more than 15 residents and we are expanding usage to all residents interested in 2020.
