What was your motivation? What inspired you to follow when you wanted to give up?
I was motivated to lose weight at age 51. This was after I was diagnosed with stage 4 osteoarthritis in the left knee, a plaque and two screws were placed in the cervical spine with the removal of the C5 and C6 vertebrae and I had a fused lumbar spine. … All while suffering from extreme menopausal symptoms.
I was tired of being in constant unbearable pain and not having any quality of life. I decided that I could no longer allow my ailments to prevent me from reaching my goal to recover.
How did you change your eating habits?
I didn't want to take any prescription medication, so I decided to change my diet by eating less than ten net carbohydrates per day. I increased my water consumption and practiced intermittent fasting (only eating between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.). I drank black coffee, tea and water during my fasting periods.
What was your exercise routine?
I train four times a week doing cardio (treadmill) and resistance exercises (light weights, more repetitions).
When did you start your trip?
I started my trip in February 2019 and reached my goal in December 2019.
What is the biggest lesson you have learned?
The biggest lesson I learned is that consistency is key. It will not happen overnight. You must be patient and trust the process.
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight?
My advice to anyone who has lost hope of losing weight, especially if he is going through menopause or is injured, do not give up! If I can do it, you can do it.
